Ken Myers Appointed to Board of Directors of Common Cause of Pennsylvania

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (September 23, 2013) – High Swartz LLP, a general practice law firm based in Norristown, Pa., announced that Kenneth R. Myers, of Counsel, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Common Cause of Pennsylvania (Common Cause). Common Cause is a non-profit national advocacy organization with approximately 400,000 members and 35 state organizations. It is a vehicle for citizens to make their voices heard in the political process and to hold their elected leaders accountable to the public interest.

Myers was elected by the Board, and in this role he will be helping to advise the executive director of Common Cause, and support and promote the organization’s events throughout the community.  Specifically, Myers will assist with projects involving legislative and judicial matters, such as the right to vote, and important healthcare, social welfare and civil rights programs.

One of Myers’ long-standing interests has been the improvement of the electoral process. Having worked for both major political parties, he stated, “Educating people about their government and representatives, instilling the importance of utilizing the ballot box, and improving the process by which election districts are established and redistricted, are all key to the success of our democracy. I look forward to serving Common Cause, which precisely shares my goals in these vital areas.”

Myers concentrates his practice in real estate, administrative, environmental and public utility law. He also serves two sectarian non-profits, as a director of the Philadelphia Jewish Voice and an officer and director of the Jewish Social Policy Action Network. Myers is a member of the Montgomery and Pennsylvania Bar Associations and is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, Illinois, for the U.S. District Court Northern District of Illinois, and the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a B.S. in electrical engineering, and obtained his J.D. at Harvard Law School.

High Swartz Partner Tom Rees Elected President of Main Line Art Center Board of Directors

Rees was recently elected President of the Board of Directors for the Main Line Art Center (the center).Rees will serve a two-year term as board president through 2015.
