Missy Boyd Elected Vice Chair of MBA FLS

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (December 2, 2013) – High Swartz LLP, a general practice law firm based in Norristown, Pa., announced that Partner Melissa M. Boyd was elected to serve as vice chair of the Montgomery Bar Association’s (MBA’s) Family Law Section (FLS) during its annual meeting, held on November 6, 2013. She will serve a one-year term beginning in January 2014, and her primary responsibilities will include acting as a backup to the chair, attending meetings, and providing opinions in executive decisions. The MBA is a non-profit organization of nearly 2,100 Montgomery County attorneys. Its FLS is committed to the development and practical working of the law relating to marriage, divorce, child support and domestic relations matters. Among the 12 other positions and committees Boyd has served for the MBA, two of the most prominent include the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and serving as former treasurer for the FLS. Currently she serves as the secretary for the FLS. In addition to the MBA, Boyd is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, as well as the Doris Jonas Freed American Inn of Court for Family Law, and frequently presents on family law topics to these organizations as well as the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Boyd concentrates her practice on divorce, pre-nuptial and post-divorce agreements, as well as child custody and support, equitable distribution, alimony, adoptions, protection from abuse and juvenile law. She is a graduate of Washington College, and received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Mary Cushing Doherty Spoke at PBA Event

High Swartz Partner Mary Cushing Doherty recently attended and spoke at an event honoring Michael Shatto, Sections Relations Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Bar Association, on the occasion of his retirement from the PBA.  Mary spoke on behalf of the Family Law Section.  Proceeds from the event benefited the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation, a charitable affiliate of the PBA.  Below is a photo from the event:clip_image001
