High Swartz, LLP, has decided to fund a scholarship in memory of Mary Cushing Doherty’s late husband, James F. Doherty. Jim was an employee at PennColor for 30 years. Jim had many passions, a true Renaissance man who was proud of being a chemist. Jim loved the study of history, literature, language, etc., which passions passed to his children. He was proud he could play basketball with his 6-foot brothers-in-law (as well as other sports.) He was a competitive trivia player and a natural humorist. For 30 years, Jim and Mary served their church as pre-marriage counselors, and he was an evangelist by quiet example.
This scholarship will be awarded once a year to a child or grandchild of a full-time High Swartz employee. A panel of three judges will review the applications and will select one or two recipients of the $5,000 scholarship. The recipient(s) will be selected based on an essay submission and a description of their community and/or volunteer activities.
